I am looking for Stephen Payne Smith's Parents & Grandparents.
Stephen Payne Smith was born in Wiltshire 1806, and was married
to Jane rebekah (Rebecca) hedgeland on 17 October at Saint
Georges church, Hanover Square, Westminster, London, England.
Stephen Payne Smith's Father was Thomas Smith, also from
Wiltshire. Stephen Payne Smith had eight children :- Jane
Susannah 20/7/1830, Stephen Thomas 1832, Elizabeth Harriet
(Known as Eliza) 1835, Mary Ann 1837, Clarissa Emma 1839, Louisa
Hedgeland } twin 1842, Maria Payne } twin 1842, William Samuel
1845.
The whole family immigrated all together to New Zealand on the '
Steadfast ', which left Gravesend, England and arrived at
Lyttleton, Christchurch, New Zealand in 1851, and first settled
in Kaiapoi, Christchurch.
Stephen Payne Smith was listed as a carpenter in 1855 on the
Electoral Roll. |
