My g -g-grandfather was Gervas Ward who lived in Sydney, Australia. He married Agnes Riley. The Governor General Humble Ward visited them at their residence in Sydney. Our family believes Gervas to be related to Humble Ward. My grandfather Alfred Beale received some money from England in the 1920's as part of a will. He was told it took a long time to track him and his brothers living in Sydney.

We would like to enlist any help to find the answer to this.

Thank you

Wonderful site - thank you so much for going to the trouble to create and maintain it - it must be a lot of work!

Why not encourage people to submit details of their Ancestors BMD'S that are not incorrect - it could help others researching the same family and we could save each other some money into the bargain! :)

Researching Surnames :

Mackenzie Mckenzie (and any other spellings of the name) Ridewood (Same) Sargeant Sargent (Same) and Martin - to name but a few.

My reason for not listing the details of ALL the BMD Certificates that we happen to have, instead of just listing the incorrect ones is this:

Firstly - I am afraid that I just would not have the time to be able to do this, as if everybody sent me the details from all the certificates they hold, I would have to list tens of thousands on this site, and I started this site as an extension to my main web site, which is Our Ward Family Website. To have a site where I could list all these details, would mean that I would have to pay more to my web hosting Co. which would then mean having to charge people to view these details, and I have always stated that this site, will remain FREE.

Secondly - I am in poor health and also disabled, so I cannot spend long hours at the computer, I have also created and run the Will Transcriptions Online Web Site, where I list transcriptions of wills, and there are now over 800 listed on the site. This site is also Free and it will remain so.

I do agree that it would be nice to list them all, but I am afraid that I just could not manage that, and the reason that I started this site in the beginning, was so we could place the details of these incorrect certificates that we get now and again, in the hope of passing them on to somebody who is researching the named person. I do know that many certificates have been passed on via this site.

Best Wishes to you all

Peter

Great idea for a site - I've uploaded all my unwanted certificates, and am hoping I'll be able to find some clues on here to some family mysteries!

Researching Surnames :

I am mainly searching for the Thompson family from the Durham/Northumberland/Lancashire area. In particular, two members of my tree are really causing me headaches as I can't find them anywhere.

1. My great grandfather Charles Thompson, b. abt 1876 in Durham, ran away to sea with his stepbrother (surname Gardiner I think) because he disliked his stepmother, or so goes the family story. Apparently Gardiner jumped ship and went to Australia while Charles returned to Sunderland where he married Elizabeth Burlinson in 1897 and became a miner, but I can't find his birth and I don't know his mother's name. I don't know how old he was when he ran away either or how long he was missing.

2. It's further complicated by the fact that his father, William Thompson, was a mariner and so could have been at sea when the 1881 or 1891 censuses were taken. William was deceased by the time Charles married, but I don't know what year he was born nor the names of either of his wives.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as we're at a dead end!
